An animal that cannot stop tearing we call rabid. An animal that can’t stop running away, we call panicky. They are lost in their fear.
A person who cannot stop using his mind and acting, we call a person who does it right….
Man loves the dog because the dog shows him how the world can be when there is no reason to tear. Man loves the deer because it shows him how the world can be without being panicky. It is the lost peace that man recognizes in these animals. They are the silent proof that „Everyone against everyone“ and „Darwinism“ and „The right of the strongest“ and the „Struggle for Life“ are only the slogans of a society that no longer manages to get out of its panic rabies – that no longer manages to free itself from the clutches of its mind, that is lost in its fear and no longer knows anything about security.
Only, when man sees the dog or the deer, then something inexpressible in him remembers how it could be. But this something has no words. And so it remains for the human being, who can understand only in the way of understanding, only a feeling. A dangerous and sentimental feeling, which he must get rid of quickly. A feeling, which he cannot afford, if he wants to survive in this world of panic rabies. Whatever surviving there may mean.
The lion and the gazelle drink together from the same water hole. The lion does not only have to tear. The gazelle does not always have to flee.
