The helplessness and immobility of people in the face of climate catastrophe, the fatalism that nothing can be changed now anyway, are an expression of the hidden death wish in materialism. The wish that this meaningless existence will soon be over. And the thought that if I can no longer do anything for my survival, then the whole world can go with me. For what do I need it for if I am no more?
It doesn’t matter if 70 percent of the people no longer have any hope. It’s only the few politicians who have everything in their hands. When they are up to their necks in water, they will make the appropriate decisions. The helplessness of the people results from their lack of influence in the political process, which is still heading full speed towards the abyss. Not in the coming climate catastrophe.
