The successful psychopath is adaptable. In democracies, this leads to him being supported by the people as long as they take advantage of his actions. Destruction of people and nature in faraway countries, disproportionate judgements in cases that do not concern oneself, a little state restriction of freedom for the sake of security and more efficient workflow: as long as the conscienceless single-mindedness of the psychopath brings benefits – and that is how he makes it appear to the common man – he is allowed to do as he pleases in state and economy.
There is a kind of curve on which the psychopath is first of all quite in line with the people. Only: the world is limited. And the he psychopath’s will of accumulation is absolutely limitless. Inevitably, there comes a point when the curve diverges from the line of people, when his illness must also affect his previous supporters. Then his actions suddenly destroy his own society. Sends thousands to their deaths in wars. Establishes merciless suicide economies. Destroys nature without restraint; the basis of all life. Lies, cheats openly; makes this a social consensus. Visibly exploits its own people without shame.
Formerly democratic acceptance by the people must then inevitably be followed – in order to be able to go on and on, until the end of everything – by the implementation of coercive and control mechanisms to keep the now no longer so compliant population stuck on the sinking ship with the mad helmsmen and captains….
