The psychopath feels only the separation. He feels nothing for the other – separated from him – because he cannot recognize connectedness with anything. He recognizes only his own pain of being separated.
The spiritualized one feels only the unity. He feels nothing for the other, because he does not perceive the individual. He feels the unity and knows nothing of the pain of separateness. Neither with himself nor with the other.
Only the knowledge of unity and the perception of separation together, allow us to feel the other in his pain. And to have compassion. The knowledge of oneness takes away the lonely hatred. The perception of separateness enables compassion. We recognize ourselves and the other as separate and as connected at the same time.
