If an earthly life consists of so many small births and deaths, is not the Christian life perhaps not meant to be the one earthly life? Doesn’t life perhaps also mean the one great path that we walk through our many earthly lives and that leads us in the end to rest and unity with God? Does the actual life consist of a thousand earthly lives, which themselves consist of a thousand small lives? Circles within circles within the great circle?
Pain must never be allowed to guide us. Our actions grow out of the fearless knowledge of our security in the meaning, of our soulfulness and of the eternal unity of everything. We always act in love for everything and everyone. There is no inner separation. Pain alone must never guide us.
