To control „oneself“ means to control the ego. To control the ego means to become „aware“ of the ego’s reflexes and motives. Thus, control is awareness. The ego naturally sees in this control only the restriction of its freedom. It sees an annoying compulsion to justify, when it could just act uncontrolled according to its own will. So the ego also sells this control to „us“ and „we“ then think that „we“ are limited. But it is different. If there is a „we“, then it is the consciousness. And every control, every awareness of the reflexes and the self-important and self-centered deeds and thoughts of our ego is a liberation for „us“, the consciousness. A liberation from confusion.
