I look at the sports car and realise – somewhat wistfully – that this is over.

There stands the Porsche 911 Targa in the sunshine. From the 80s in copper brown. A jewel. The pride of every owner.

I look at this car and realise – somewhat wistfully – that this is over. Those days of hedonism, of epicureanism, of self-reference are over. We can no longer be children who enjoy their personal toys out of pure self-pleasure – and for whom that is and will be everything in their lives.

It is time to grow up. Time to straighten up in our sandboxes and cross their boundaries with a sure and purposeful step. It is time to take responsibility for the world. For creation.

The time to waste our lives in self-forgetfulness and world-forgetfulness, in drive-gratification, is definitely over. Definitely…

Pain must never be allowed to guide us. Our actions grow out of the fearless knowledge of our security in the meaning, of our soulfulness and of the eternal unity of everything. We always act in love for everything and everyone. There is no inner separation. Pain alone must never guide us.
