Everything is stimulus and reaction. But not everything is based on earthly information. What about selfless action? What if I selflessly sacrifice myself for strangers? To what stimulus is that the reaction? It can’t be an earthly one. That is a spiritual stimulus, a stimulus of unity and true knowledge to which I then react. The material world offers no basis for this.

To not feel this stimulus could be a disturbance, says the soul-perceiver…. What is one to do….?
