the world of the mind does not give security

The desire for possessions and money, for resources, the greed, the excess has its cause in the fact that this our mind world offers no reliability. Everyone is aware inside that in the next moment everything can be gone. That what the mind has created and constructed somehow seems to stand on feet of clay. The world of the mind lacks the constancy of the natural world. It lacks the rhythm on which everyone can rely. It lacks the rhythm in which people are given the gifts of the world. The mind world does not go in circles and thus does not form a whole that always begins anew, but rather it shoots forward like an iron arrow in a straight line where no one knows what will happen next. The linear existence with past, present and the unknown future… at the end the eternal death, which nothing more follows. Death, which is negated because, if one were to perceive it, it would make the dream of the eternally flying arrow absurd, because it shows that everything must return, that unlimited growth – the sacred postulate of the intellectual world – is only a short-sighted illusion. In such a world the human being must grasp and collect and greed during his lifetime, alone in order not to lose himself in the meaninglessness of his existence. To have at least something around him, which has substance, even if he can bind it to himself only during his lifetime. The money and things are the only thing that can make this short and meaningless period of life bearable for him.

If I walk in the natural cycles, then I know about the day and the following night. Then I know about summer and the following autumn. The winter and the following spring. Then I know from the being and from the non-being and the recurring being. Nothing I have to gather and gather then, which goes beyond my basic needs. There is nothing for which I have to numb myself because I could not bear it. I am safe with my well-meaning and reliable parents and can be content with what the natural world gives me. I can live. And I can die.

Pain must never be allowed to guide us. Our actions grow out of the fearless knowledge of our security in the meaning, of our soulfulness and of the eternal unity of everything. We always act in love for everything and everyone. There is no inner separation. Pain alone must never guide us.
